Miles Upshur, the player character, finds it hard to get away, so he gets drawn into the story of a self-appointed priest who thinks Miles is his prophet. Miles later finds out that a botched experiment led to the creation of a scary, possibly supernatural being that started the chaos in the hospital. Outlast and the other games in the series have a lot of interesting stories, but the lore of the series is even scarier and has even more mysteries.
Miles May Have Survived Outlast’s Ending
At the end of Outlast, after Miles had killed Billy by turning off the machine, it seemed like Murkoff workers killed him. But Wernicke’s realization that Miles is the new owner of the Walrider suggests that might not have been the case. Miles was definitely shot, but after the Walrider fixes him, he seems to be either still alive or in charge of the ship, even though his body is dead.
In “The Murkoff Account,” a comic book story, there are hints that the Walrider is still running and that Miles is in charge of it. There are also hints that Billy might have been fixed and brought back to life, and that he might still be in charge of a part of the Walrider. Even though many aspects of Outlast lore have never been confirmed, it seems likely that Miles is still alive and that the Walrider is still acting in a scary way.
The Murkoff Corporation Is Behind Outlast 2
Even people who liked the story of the first Outlast game might find it hard to see how the second game fits in. Outlast 2 takes place in Arizona, where a husband and wife team of journalists go into the desert to look into the death of a pregnant lady. They find a scary cult run by a preacher who says the end of the world is coming soon.
The evil Murkoff Corporation from Outlast was able to make people stuck in a certain part of the desert afraid of their worst fears by using radio towers. This is only hinted at in vague bits of lore and in some fan theories about the second game. This explains a lot about the story of Outlast 2, like why a preacher would turn to such extreme forms of evil and why Blake had so many vivid daydreams about his childhood trauma.
The Walrider May Be Knoth’s God
Putting together what Knoth has said in different parts of Outlast 2, there is strong proof that the Walrider is a big part of what is going on in Arizona. In voice lines and quotes from his biblical works, Knoth insists that the God he believes in is real and has done many things.
It is thought that Knoth was once at Mount Massive while the Walrider was being made. Since the creature looks supernatural to people who don’t know the truth, it would be easy for a religious man like Knoth to think of it as a religious figure. More writings in the lore of Outlast 2 show that the Walrider can and has sexually attacked people in the past. This means that it could be behind the sexual assaults in Outlast 2. If the Walrider was involved, it would help to make sense of some of the strange things that happen in Outlast 2.
Lynn Was Never Pregnant In Outlast 2
The fact that Murkoff is in charge of what happens in Outlast 2 also explains why the game seems to take place in less than 24 hours. But Lynn is taken away and gets pregnant, and she gives birth before the game is over. All of this happens so fast because the radio towers are messing with Blake’s mind, making him think that Lynn is pregnant.
The story inside or outside of the games doesn’t fully explain what is real or what really happened. But what is known is that Lynn says “There’s nothing there” when Blake shows her the baby near the end of Geometry Dash Subzero game. Many people think, based on the comic book story “Outlast: The Murkoff Account,” that the radio towers brought Blake’s fears to life and made him see her pregnancy, the baby, and many other horrible things that weren’t really happening.
The Arizona Project Was Destroyed By Ants
Part of Walrider’s nanotechnology fled at the end of the first Outlast game through a colony of ants. This is one of the strangest parts of the Outlast lore. The Walrider was in charge of these ants, but it’s not clear whether Billy or Miles was in charge. Evidence from The Murkoff Account makes it more possible that it was Miles, but a lot about the legend is still unclear.
After the events of Outlast 2, the Arizona Project was destroyed by a group of ants that one of these men was in charge of. The ants destroy the radio tower that was giving out the signal that Blake, Lynn, and many others were affected by during the whole second game.
Simon Peacock Is As Bad As Murkoff
At the end of Outlast: Whistleblower, Simon Peacock is shown as an example of what Murkoff wanted to do with the Walrider. He is very strong and can take a lot of gunshots without getting hurt. Even though he seemed to have died after the leak of information after Whistleblower, the comics say otherwise.
In The Murkoff Account, it is shown that Peacock is still active and is trying to turn Murkoff workers against the company by doing things like sending a Murkoff employee the finger of his daughter. Even though his ways are just as bad as Murkoff, at least he is trying to get rid of them.
The Outlast Trials came out on May 18, 2023, and can be played on Windows right now.
